Derek K. Holcombe

M.D.

Dr. Holcombe grew up in South Carolina where he attended the University of South Carolina, graduating with a B.S. in Biology in 1984, summa cum laude. He graduated from the USC School of Medicine in 1988 with honors. He then moved to Alabama to train in Internal Medicine at UAB where he completed his residency in 1991. After residency, he moved to Alexander City where he practiced full time working in the Emergency Department at Russell Medical as a Board Certified Internist. During this time, he met his beautiful wife Robin, an Alexander City native. They moved to Memphis where Dr. Holcombe completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1994. He was then recruited back to Russell Medical where he has practiced as a Board Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist for over 25 years.

On the personal side, Dr. Holcombe enjoys a healthy lifestyle. He is an avid biker, and loves to spend time in the gym. He enjoys water sports, hunting, and snow skiing. When there is free time, he loves to spend it traveling with the beautiful women in his life, Robin and daughter Lorin. They love to travel to some of their favorite places in the Bahamas, and try to make it out west to the slopes at least once a year.
